They left in the dead of night while no one was watching. That’s often how three people, each with their own stories and their own dreams become nothing but numbers: three people, lost in a sea of eighty-two million displaced persons around the globe.
“But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.” (Luke 2:19) The story of the first Christmas is the story of a miraculous intervention in the life of the world—one that caused the heavens to rejoice, but was decidedly more quiet here on earth.
